Salamina Mosese - South African Media Powerhouse

Salamina Mosese is one of South Africa’s most recognised TV personalities. As well as being an actor, she is also a producer and managing director at Sorele Media, focusing on film and television production, communications and marketing.

She has over 22 years of experience in media and entertainment. Her first role was as a presenter for an eTV kids programme and this was then followed by multiple presenting and acting gigs across South African TV for several years. Her most famous acting role was as Ella, a domestic worker in the series AboMzala, and for which she won a SAFTA for Best Actress in a Comedy. She also co-wrote, produced and starred in the Netflix-featured film Baby Mamas.

One of her other roles is as a Brightstars mentor, giving her time to empower young high school students with an interest in the media field; she is driven by a desire to see young people empowered and able to fulfill their goals and dreams in business and their chosen career paths. Salamina credits her own experience on the Mandela Washington Fellowship programme with exposing her to inspiring fellows from all over the continent, whose projects and businesses forever changed her perspective on the future of the African continent, and the true impact that she can make in her region.

Salamina holds a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications from the University of Johannesburg, where she majored in sociology, and also holds a post graduate diploma in business management from Regenesys Business School. As a Mandela Washington Fellow, she completed the programme at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 2017, as part of the Business and Entrepreneurship track.
